Busting the Newbie Blues

Shannon the BookStalker was nice enough to point me to Small Review: Busting the Newbie Blues. Her post is aimed at new and experienced YA book bloggers who need more help or want to help in the blogging world. For this I chose the New Bloggers Questionnaire.

New Bloggers:

Pick this questionnaire if you if you feel you're still getting your "blogging legs" and could use some advice and awareness brought to your blog, whether you're a brand new blogger or even if you've been blogging for over a year.

1.When did you start your blog?
I started this blog in August 2010. But I had a different blog for a few months before that.

2.Why did you start your blog?
I started blogging because whenever I started to ramble about the latest book that I was reading everyone around me would tune me out. I figure everyone reading my blog wants to be here so hopefully they will not mind my whimsical rambling. And if they do they don't tell me.

3.What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
I would say my biggest challenge has been getting started because there is so much to do and when i look around there are so many amazing blogs out there.

4.What do you find most discouraging about being a new blogger?
I find the fact that I don't really know what you are doing most discouraging. I am sort of winging it and hoping no one notices.

5.What do you find most encouraging?
I find the fact that everyone is so friendly to each other really helpful. No one is mean to you even if you have no idea what you are doing. It makes it easier to make mistakes that way.

6.What do you like best about the blogs you read? Have you tried to replicate this in your blog?
I really like the personalized heading that everyone has. I have tried to make some of my own. I think I am one my third one. It also happens to be my favorite so far.

7.What do you dislike about blogs you’ve read? Do you try to avoid this?
I dislike some that I found had really complicated layouts. I was not really sure how to get places. I try to avoid this by making it as easy as I can to navigate. I also am trying to make my reviews more in depth but I never realised how hard that can be without giving away the whole book.

8.Any advice for other new bloggers?
My advice would be not to give up. You may not think that anyone notices your blog but you will be found. And have fun and relax, blogging should not be a chore so don't try to try too much too fast.

9.Anything else you’d like to share about your experience?
Ever since I started my blog I am continually surprised from all of the good books I missed out on. My family loves that I have a blog though because they no longer have to listen to me talk nonstop. It also helps that now that it is so in vogue to make films into movies that I am not ruining the endings. Even if they are not the same as the book.

10.Is there anything you’d like to tell us about your blog?
I like to think that my blog is worth checking out. I update it as often as I can and I try to make it as aesthetically pleasing as I can. I hope you like my blog as much I as do. Maybe not that much, it would not be healthy for you.

I encourage feedback because it reminds me that I am not talking to myself. I don't mind if you comment on my post, recommend a book, or just want to say hello. You can even have a conversation with each other. All civil correspondence is welcomed.

Don't forget to check back for my response
