He smiles. "Hello."

It's a deep voice. I can feel it reverberate in my chest and echo all the way down to my toes.

I know I should leave, but I don't want to. I want to keep my senses like this forever. I'm all eye, all ear, all skin.

Persephone lives in the most gorgeous place in the world. But her mother's a goddess, as overprotective as she is powerful. Paradise has become a trap. Just when Persephone feels there's no chance of escaping the life that's been planned for her, a mysterious stranger arrives. A stranger who promises something more--something dangerous and exciting--something that spurs Persephone to make a daring choice. A choice that could destroy all she's come to love, even the earth itself.

In a land where a singing river can make you forget your very name, Persephone is forced to discover who--and what--she really is.

This is a redo of the Persephone and Hades myth only about one million times better. I absolutely adored it. It was completely different from the usual myth. I have always loved the Greek myths but the very fact that this one does not automatically make Hades out to be the villain is awesome. You would think that the fact that this story has been told so many times that any and every surprise would be gone. Wrong. It is really not how I would think. Emily Whitman takes a story that normally is told very vaguely with characters that are not really given much personality and gives it new life. Radiant Darkness is a must read for all people who liked the myth of Persephone and Hades and thought that Hades needed to be given a break. I would also recommend this book to everyone else. Although I can't really say much because I feel that me saying anything but how awesome the book was could be a horrible spoiler. So I leave with one thing: Read Radiant Darkness by Emily Whitman NOW!
