YOUR BOOKS, MUSIC, AND ART-- BANNED

YOU ARE HOLDING AN URGENT AND VITAL NARRATIVE THAT REVEALS THE FORBIDDEN TRUTH ABOUT THESE PERILOUS TIMES. . . .

This is the astonishing testimonial of Wisty and Whit Allgood, a sister and brother who were torn from their family in the middle of the night, slammed into prison, and accused of being a witch and wizard.

They are not alone in their terrifying predicament. Thousands of young people heave been kidnapped. Some have been accused; many others remain missing. Their fate is unknown, and the worst is feared-for the ruling regime will stop at nothing to suppress life and liberty, music and books, art and magic. . . and the pursuit of being a normal teenager.

Most copies of this story have already been seized, shredded, or burned. Read this rare, surviving edition and pass it along with care-before it's too late.

If I could only use one word to describe this book it would be un-be-freaking-lievable.

I did not want to put this book down but there are many things that humans need to do and sleeping and eating is one of them. Also because we are talking about me, frequent trips to the library, or as often as I can get my mother to take me are not just something I want to do, but really need to do. I feel as if I have been cut off from the library for so long since for almost an eternity I was unable to go.

The plot is interesting and James gives you enough information to understand what is going on, yet at the same time only enough to be permanently on the edge of your seat. The huge fact that unlike many books the characters actually use powers is a very big brownie point for this novel. Normally you only read the supernatural happenings on the first few chapters and somewhere in the last five chapters they suddenly have complete control and are able to pull off a very amazing feat that not even professionals could do. They are able to do the awesome things but while they sometimes mess up it is not the focal point of the whole thing.

The characters are understandable most of the times, at least the ones that narrate the book. A problem with the narration however is the fact that it changes so often and the changing of point of views does not really have much of a pattern so that you need to really need to keep track of who the voice belongs to. It is hardest near the beginning and at the middle to see who is speaking. When Whit and Wisty spilt up it is easier to see who is who. They are both hilarious in there own way and after the initial annoyance about the abrupt switching I came to resent it less, even though at times you went through four chapters with the same point of view so there really was no point to separate them in to chapters.

Other things I really liked about the book was at the end it has 'Excerpts of NEW ORDER PROPAGANDA' and it has definitions for you if you did not understand the explanations given to you by the book. One of my favorite things about the book is whenever they mentioned someone famous they would change their name so that if you know the original person or group you could still tell who they were talking about. That or make an educated guess. I love satirical humor, it kills me every time.
