What's her secret? A no-holds-barred science experiment . . . with cat as the guinea pig. Can her combination of brains and bravery help Cat avenge herself against the guy who broke her heart- and even turn him into an experiment of her own?
Enjoyment: ★★★★☆
I really enjoyed this book. What stopped me the most from putting the book down was finding out what Matt had done to Cat that made her hate him so much. I had an extremely good idea what he did but when I found out I was still very surprised. I started to find out find out about the experiment and Cat's enemy and what he did to earn her hatred but I stayed because the story had just sucked me in from start to finish. The fact that it only took me about 6.5 hours should attest to that.
Plot: ★★★★
The plot was well put together but at times it seemed lacking. I felt that some points were perhaps repeated one too many times. At the same time the parts that were repeated helped to build Cat up as a 3-D character. The novel was pretty much straight forward and if you are paying attention you can not really get lost, it is practically impossible.
Characters: ★★★★☆
Every page is centered on giving each character their own identity. They are really realistic in how they react. Even the people that spent the lest amount of time were given a back story. However many of the people that Cat interacted with I felt were overly praised and I felt that it was slightly annoying haw everyone was so worshipped by Cat. She seemed she either loved or hated someone.
Style: ★★★★
I would not be surprised if many teens not only recognized this voice but could connect with what Cat has to say. Robin is excellent in showing the readers the mind of an under confident teenager. I loved how every word just seemed to fit into each sentence. She really showed her ability to reproduce an accurate depiction of how brutal high school can be for those who do not conform to every one's idea of beauty and how what the right person says can destroy you.
Grade: ★★★★☆
I really enjoyed this book and if I had any friends than I would recommend this book to all of my female friends. Not so sure about the male ones. This just does not seem like their type of thing. But to me it was an awesome book that showed someone getting back the confidence that they never knew that they had lost in the beginning.
