Heist Society~ Ally Carter Review

Enjoyment: ★★★★

Plot: ★★★☆

Characters: ★★★☆

Flow: ★★★★☆

Overall: ★★★☆

When Katarina Bishop was three, her parents took her to the Louvre . . . to case it. For her seventh birthday, Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria . . . to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen, she planned a con of her own- scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country, determined to leave the family buisness behind. Unfortunately, leaving "the life" for a normal life proveds harder than she'd expected.

Soon, Kat's friend and former co-conspirator, Hale, appears out of nowhere to bring her back into the world she tried so hard to escape. But he has good reason: a powerfulmobster's priceless art collection has been stolen and he wants it returned. Only a master thief could have pulled off this job, and Kat's father isn't just on the suspect list, he is the list. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat's dad needs her help.

For Kat there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what is it's a spectacularly impossivle job? She's got two weeks, a teenage crew, and, hopefully, just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family's (very crooked) history- and with any luck, steal her life back along the way.

Heist Society is a fast paced action adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat guesing what will come next. Even though you will find that many of your assumptions are wrong they will not disappoint you and you will be almost happy that you came to the wrong conclusions. This is shown where I was blind sided by the ending and how it played out. However if you picked up this book for the romance you will be sorely disappointed because while Kat does end up with someone at the end there is little to no romantic fluff between these pages.

I like how with almost all of the characters you get to really know them. The hard part about trying to decribe the book is that so much of the book ties in with a spoiler that you can't really say much without giving it away. So I will leave it to you to read the book and find out how good of a read you think it is.

  1. I have been wanting to read this for quite a bit of time now, and your review just wanted to make me go out and get it even more! I'm glad to hear that you really get to know the characters, as I tend to feel more connected to the book that way. I wonder what the big surprise that you can't talk about is!

  2. @ T.B. -This is probably sad to admit but while I remember the book I can't for the life of me remember which surprise I was talking about. Five months will do that to you. I am going to say that I was talking about all of them.

Ohh! I remember! Still not telling.

  5. @ T.B. -Yay! I always feel accomplished when I can convice someone to read a book that I liked. However I would also like to say that I am never insulted if they do not end up liking it. I hope you do end up liking Heist Society if you decide to read it.
