The Twilight Prisoner~ Katherine Marsh Review

Enjoyment: ★★★☆

Plot: ★★★

Characters: ★★★★

Flow: ★★★★☆

Overall: ★★★☆

A WORLD BENEATH THE CITY.

After traveling to New York City's ghostly underworld, Jack Perdu has made it back aboveground to rejoin the living. But if he's alive, why is he still seeing ghosts?

Jack tries hard to fit in at his new school- and tries even harder to win the affections of his Latin classmate and friend, Cora. In an effort to impress her, Jack leads Cora to the entrance of the underworld and makes a terrible mistake. Soon they have crossed the threshold- and this time, there may be no getting back.

At once thrilling and moving, The Twilight Prisoner is Katherine Marsh's dazzling and highly anticipated sequel to her Edgar Award-winning debut, The Night Tourist.

A while back I read The Night Tourist and I found myself liking it the book a lot. I don't remember all that happened in it but reading The Twilight Prisoner helped me to remember a lot of what happened in the first book. when I picked up this book I did not have any misconceptions about the book and so I was surprised when after the first few chapters the main goal was almost exactly like that of the first book. Even though this is true I was still as interested in this installment as I was with the first.

While the goal is still the same how they get there is as original as the idea itself. I liked getting to learn more about Euri and how she came to be in the Underworld but I was surprised that I did not really learn anymore about Jack. You mostly find out about Euri, and Cora and some about Austin.

My favorite character was Euri. I think the fact that I really liked her from the first book and that carried over to this book. Also the fact that she had been given the chance to come back but Jack could not stop looking back makes me feel bad for her. I really wanted her to be able to have had a happy ending in this book. The ending to me is really bittersweet because while the ending is happy my secret hope for the ending did not happen. So while I like how it ended in a way I really hope that she plans to make a third book so that Euri can end up with someone for her.

This book has also made me interested in learning Latin again. I randomly have this obsession and I even tried to learn from a book myself in middle school.
